Harjo Construction transformed this home’s 1908 suite to create a bright, spacious retreat, raising the suite itself and updating the lighting. Meanwhile, the kitchen was beautifully remodeled with gorgeous tilework while the bath received new semi-custom cabinetry. Refinished stairs off the kitchen lead to a newly finished, mixed-use entertainment room and office.

Before

The mudroom off the kitchen was transformed into a butler-style pantry with plenty of storage.

In addition, the kitchen is full of touches to give the space a fresh, modern feel, such as open shelving, a gorgeous tile backsplash stainless steel appliances and black plumbing and cabinetry fixtures.

Harjo renovated this kitchen to be open, removing the wall between the kitchen and the family room, thus opening the space and creating a nice flow between rooms. Where the wall once stood, a long kitchen island was built with a gourmet-style gas stove and hood.

Before

The original footprint did not have a primary suite, but the primary bedroom was already nicely sized—yet it felt tight because of the low ceilings. Additionally, there wasn’t an attached bath.

After investigating the attic space, Harjo saw room to raise the bedroom ceiling a foot. The higher ceilings make the room more voluminous, especially now that the window trims no longer infringe on the ceiling.

Harjo transformed a small bedroom at the end of the hall into a primary suite bath. The frameless shower doors invite the homeowners into the spa-like shower with both a traditional and an adjustable/hand-held shower head. The handcrafted tile in the bathroom shower is exquisite, and the shower niche is perfectly centered with the tiles. The double-vanity countertop is quartz, and lovely sconces flank the medicine cabinet mirrors.
